Belajar Teks Recount

Recount text adalah salah satu genre, termasuk dalam kategori Story genre. Kata “Recount” secara harfiah berarti memberikan informasi, menceritakan. Menurut Buku Genre-based writing yang disusun oleh Rudi Hartono, S.S., M.Pd, Sosial fuction dari teks ini adalah To retell events for the purpose of informing or entertaining. Dapat saya jelaskan bahwa tujuan dari teks recount ini adalah untuk menceritakan kembali pengalaman, pengalaman, peristiwa atau kejadian yang sudah lewat/masa lalu untuk memberikan informasi dan hiburan kepada pembaca(readers).

Adapun teks recount ini secara umum memiliki schematic structure: Orientation,events, dan reorientation.

Orientation berisi penjelasan tentang pelaku atau subjek dari cerita, apa yang terjadi dimana dan kapan kejadian atau peristiwa itu berlangsung (Orientation tells us who, what, where and when the story or events happened)

Events berisi penjelasan tentang serangkaian kejadian atau peristiwa yang terjadi dengan urutan waktunya(tells what happened in a series of events)

Reorientation berisi tentang penutup atau akhir dari cerita( consists of optional closure of events)

Selanjutnya Language feature teks ini yaitu:

1. Focus on Individual participants
2. Use of past tense
3. Focus on temporal sequence of events
4. Use of material (action) clauses

The more we learn recount text the more we understand it

Berikut ini adalah contoh recount teks yang diambil dari Buku pegangan Genre based writing(Rudi Hartono, S.S., M.Pd).Teks recount berikut ini dalam bentuk surat:

Dear Dewi,

On Saturday, I went to Mount Bromo. I stayed at NIsa and Ahmad’s house at Cemara Lawang, Probolinggo. It has  a big garden with lots of colorful flowers and a fishpond.(Orientation)

On Sunday Nisa and I saw Gunung Batok and went on the scenic ride on horseback. It was scary. Then we went to get closer look at the mountain. We took pictures of the beautiful sceneries there. (Event)

On Monday we went to the zoo at Wonokromo. We saw cockatoos having shower. In the afternoon I went home. (Event)

It was fun. (Reorientation)
